Gerald Jerome Lewis, 83, of Lake Placid, FL died February 25, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born to the late W.T. and Edith Lewis on December 28, 1942, in Belle Glade, FL. He was a Navy Veteran who after his time in service, worked in the family business, Lewis' Truck Stop, until it closed. He then started a new career with Georgia Pacific, and after retiring, decided to do what he loved best, carpentry, until he couldn't anymore due to several strokes.

Gerald is survived by his brother, Keith Lewis (Penny), of Lake Placid, two of his three daughters, Marsha Green and Carey Lewis, both of Asheville NC, grandson Jordan Green (Carley James) of Salisbury NC, granddaughter, Dori Lee (Kyle Shawley) and loving family pet Itchy Renee Bell, of Lake Placid, grandson Zachary Matthews (Caitlin Harrison), of Sioux City, Iowa, and several great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Twyla, youngest daughter, Nicki Bell (James), a brother, W.D. Lewis, and two sisters, Reba Weaver and Faye Story.

A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date.
